Drywall is going up... at least on the parts of the room that are insulated. I'm irked that the insulation isn't finished today, but feel like it will be tomorrow, so I won't be too irked. And we double checked - it's made in the USA, not in China (which seems to love to produce toxic items from dog food, drywall, milk powder - they've made a sick sort of art of it). Still progress is progress and that's all I really want ... just make sure we're going forward every day.
All remnants of the fireplace is gone - even to the point of patching the roof. It's amazing how much room we've gained from losing the fireplace and from those strange pantries.
Columns are in as of this morning too (yeah for progress) and they look good - simple, correct proportion, I like. Have to wait three weeks and let them get used to the weather a bit then the guys will come back and patch any cracks or gaps and paint.
Progress is a lovely thing.
